Furtherance: Day Sixty-One

Started the new fantasy novel today — the one I dreamed about several weeks back. Already having a blast, and it’s just one chapter down. Normally I find world-building to be a 100% drag, mainly because it disrupts the flow of writing while I’m trying to focus on plot and character. Here, though, making the world is unexpectedly just as fun as the rest of the process. But then, the entire point of this novel is to have fun and write something uncharacteristic for me.

Which brings us to the subject of pseudonyms, also mentioned several weeks back. I’m probably going to publish this book under a fake name, despite personally hating fake names. A longer discussion of this dilemma is on its way!

But for now, the new novel (title under wraps because I’m feeling especially superstitious about it) is my main project. I need to do a little reading and research before I start on the comic book contest entry, plus even more research for the other writing project.

It feels good to have a full plate — not overloaded, but having a solid set of goals and projects to work towards over the next couple of months.

In other news, woo-hoo! Space and Time magazine issue 124, featuring my contest-winning story “New World Symphony,” is now available!
